Patti Carpenter has replaced Brad Devereaux as the reporter at the Lovell Chronicle. Deveraux left the Chronicle recently to return to his home state of Michigan to be closer to his family.
“I am excited to join the staff of a newspaper with such a rich history of community journalism,” said Carpenter.
Carpenter brings a wealth of reporting, editing, and photography experience to the job. Most recently she worked as a reporter and photographer for the Carbon County News, a weekly community newspaper, in Red Lodge, Mont.
“I am very pleased to welcome Patti to our newspaper family,” Chronicle publisher David Peck said. “She loves small towns and community journalism, and I think our readers will find her very easy to work with. She is an excellent photographer, as well, and we’re looking forward to showing her work.”
“We will miss Brad, who gave us four great years of work at the Chronicle. I wish him the best as he continues his career closer to his home base in Michigan.”
Carpenter is the recipient of numerous Montana Newspaper Association awards for both writing and photography, including a first place win of the 2010 award for Excellence in Public Service journalism.
“My first week on the job began with a bang with attendance at the Day at the Lake events and the wonderful community celebration in Byron,” said Carpenter. “I’m impressed with how friendly people are in this area and I already feel so warmly welcomed to both the State of Wyoming and Big Horn County.”
