Carmen McArthur, 98, of Lovell, died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell. She was born on Feb. 11, 1913 in Parley Park, Utah, to George Stahle and Bertha Hollenweger Stahle. She was the second of seven children.
She married Ervin McArthur on June 6, 1939. They had eight children. She loved and enjoyed her family and was very proud of them.
Carmen also loved her many grandchildren. Being able to be a part of their lives brought her great joy. She especially enjoyed attending their many ball games.
Carmen served two missions for the LDS Church. She will be remembered for her compassion and willingness to serve others. Her commitment to her church was a very important part of her life.
Carmen was a wonderful cook. She worked at the school lunchroom for many years. She also loved flowers of any kind. Her home had many beautiful plants.
She is survived by two of her sisters, Mildred Asay of Lovell and Melba Sears of Salt Lake City; her eight children, Barbara Janke, Ron (Leslie) McArthur, Marla (Bob) Benson, David (Myra) McArthur, Nancy (Ted) Mickelson, Steve (Susan) McArthur, Elaine (Gerald) Hoagland and Wayne (Susan) McArthur; 41 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 2, at 11 a.m. at the Lovell LDS Stake Center. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Lovell Cemetery. Haskell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
