Delpha was born at the family home in Lovell on Dec. 6, 1917, to Rhoana (Hatch) and Levi Sawyer. She was one of eight children. When Delpha was a baby, the family moved to a ranch on the upper Nowood, north of Ten Sleep.
The family returned to Lovell in 1920. Her parents bought the ML Ranch and the Five Springs Ranch. She spent most of her childhood riding her horses and exploring around the ranches. Delpha attended school in Kane and then transferred to Lovell where she graduated from high school. Following high school, she attended and graduated from Sheridan Beauty College on Aug. 20, 1938. She worked in Sheridan while attending college and for a time in Estes Park, Colo.
She married Dell Clove in Utah on Oct. 7, 1940. They made their first home in Hollywood, Calif. When they returned to Wyoming, they lived in the Big Horn Mountains in a one-room log cabin that had a sod roof in the summer and in an apartment in Lovell during the winter months. They moved to Ten Sleep in 1946, where they lived for many years. Two children were born to this union: Shirley Del on Oct. 10, 1941, and Coleen on Sept. 16, 1952.
Delpha and Dell were divorced on Oct. 3, 1968. Delpha and Coleen moved to Cheyenne to be with Shirley. It was here that Delpha began her career in the fashion industry.
She married Gordon Orcutt in Trinidad, Colo. on Jan. 2, 1969. They lived in Colorado Springs where Delpha worked in sales. Later, the couple moved to Sioux Falls, S.D. where Delpha continued her career until her retirement. She and Gordon moved to Mesa, Ariz. after they both retired. Gordon died on July 30, 1997. Delpha moved to Worland in 2004 where she lived with her daughter, Coleen Turner, until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, sisters Ireta Mills, Vanessa Gibson, Arta Asay and Sylva Wilder; and brothers Ernest Sawyer, Levi Sawyer and Merlin Sawyer.
She leaves behind daughters Shirley (Joe) Stolns of Worland and Coleen Turner of Chandler, Ariz.; grandchildren Lorraine Sharpe, Andrea (Shane) Watson, Michelle (Dan) Paulsen and Valerie Horn and great-grandchildren Derek Sharpe, Erica Sharpe, Riley Curtis, Kade Curtis and Dallin Curtis.
