Melvin J. Neves, age 81, of Otto, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at West Park Hospital in Cody.
Melvin was born March 29, 1930 in Burlington to Chester Earl and Caroline Elizabeth (McIntosh) Neves. He received his schooling in Burlington and graduated from Burlington High School. Melvin went on to BYU for one semester.
Melvin was sealed for time and eternity to Irma Wardell Neves on Feb. 9, 1950, at the Salt Lake City Temple in Utah. Melvin and Irma enjoyed 58 years together before Irma’s death on June 25, 2008.
Melvin was a farmer/rancher all of his life. Family was very important to Melvin. He loved his children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Melvin also loved animals, especially horses. He enjoyed dancing.
Melvin was a member of the Otto Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was also a member of the Otter Creek Grazing Association and a member of the Wood and Burnett Ditch Board.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Caroline; four siblings, Miriam, Harold, Dorothy and Alan; and his loving wife, Irma.
Melvin is survived by his four children, Jay W. and wife Susan Neves of Otto, Pamela and husband Harry Robert McNiven, Delsa and husband Leonard Don McNiven and Vickie and husband Gerald George, all of Burlington; 30 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Shirley Matthews of Lindon, Utah, Carol Wymont of Roy, Utah, and Gay Yearsley of Chubbuck, Idaho.
A viewing will be held Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, in the Relief Society Room at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Burlington from 1-2 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the LDS Church in Burlington with Bishop Allen Gotfredson conducting. Burial will follow at the Otto Cemetery.
