Jode Robert Meeker, 48, died Oct. 25, 2011.
He was born July 7, 1963, in Greybull and attended Greybull Elementary, Junior High and High School. After high school, he moved to Sheridan to attend Sheridan College.
Jode moved to Phoenix in 1984 to attend DeVry University. He graduated from DeVry with a degree in electronics engineering and went to work for Allied Signal’s Aeronautics Division. He met June Barton in Phoenix and they were married on Aug. 10, 1985. He worked at Allied Signal for more than 16 years until his health forced him to retire in 1998.
Jode met Corine Rougemont in 1997 in Phoenix and they were married on Oct. 23, 1999. In 2006, he returned to Dayton, Wyo. His motto was, “No Bad Days,” and Jode lived every day accordingly.
Jode was preceded in death by his grandparents, Morris and Plet Johnson Avery and Steven and Cloris Shumway Meeker; his sister-in-law Arely Hidalgo Mendoza Meeker and his special “Aunt” Becky Shipley.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Lynne Avery Small and Bobby Ray Small of Lake Eufaula, Okla.; his father Robert Shumway Meeker and his father’s partner Carole Wagner of Ranchester, Wyo.; his sister Robin Meeker Gaston, her husband Keith and nephews Sage, Dane, Tynan and Ash of Ft. Collins, Colo.; his sister Misty Meeker Oxborrow, her husband Eric and nieces MacKenzi and Maya and nephew Tosh of Mesa, Ariz.; and his brother Dustin Meeker and niece Macy of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
A wake was held in Jode’s honor Saturday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m. at Elk View Lodge in the Big Horn Mountains between Sheridan and Greybull.
