Area veterans are invited to attend a pair of programs in honor of Veterans Day this week.
The first program is being held at Rocky Mountain Middle/High School in Cowley today (Thursday) in the main gymnasium. The school will honor veterans with a program that will also involve students.
Teacher Skye Mader said the program, which will begin at 9:44 a.m. (third period), will include activities and games for students such as a drill sergeant barking out orders and a trivia game, as well as speakers from the various wars the U.S. has fought.
Mader said all area veterans are invited and encouraged to attend.
Area veterans will also present a Veterans Day program at the North Big Horn Senior Center in Lovell on Friday at noon. Organizer Rich Fink said the program will include speaker Scott Allred, a Lovell town councilman and veteran. Allred served in the U.S. Army from 1986-90, mostly in Germany, and is in his seventh year as a member of the town council.
Lovell Elementary School music teacher Chauna Bischoff will also present two songs sung by LES students.
A color guard will present the American flag during the ceremony, and Fink will be the master of ceremonies.
Local veterans attending will be recognized, and Center Director Denise Andersen will also present some remarks.
Keith Brimhall of the Lovell Main Street Car Wash also announced this week that in honor of Veterans Day, he will offer free car washes to veterans from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday.
