It was personal record week for the Lovell Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs last week as they continued to show improvement at the Wind River Invitational Thursday, setting 30 new track and field personal records and capturing both team titles.
“We had more good performances, and as always, we like that,” coach Joshua Sanders said. “It was nice to compete against some 2A teams that we don’t always see. The kids are starting to focus on certain events and eliminate others.”
The Lovell girls won the team title with 135 points compared to 106 for second-place Thermopolis in the 11-team field. Wind River had 63 points, Big Piney and Pinedale 60 each and Saratoga 59. Greybull had 24 points, Riverside 23, Shoshoni 22, Wyoming Indian 21 and Burlington 16.
Lovell also captured the boys title with 134.5, outdistancing the field. Saratoga finished with 79 points for second place, Big Piney 74, Pinedale 73.5, Wyoming Indian 58, Burlington and Wind River 44 apiece, Shoshoni 36, Thermop 23.5, Riverside 20, Dubois 15 and Greybull 12.5.
Combined scores show Lovell with 269.5 points, Saratoga 138, Big Piney 134 and Pinedale 133.5.
The meet this week is a big one – the L.A. Kohnke Invitational in Powell. Action begins at 10 a.m. Saturday.
