Norma Jones Turner

Aug. 19, 1922 – March 28, 2012

Loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Norma Jones Turner died on March 28, 2012, of complications due to a stroke at age 89 in Murray, Utah.

She was born Aug. 19, 1922, in Lovell, to Oren Dudley Jones and Harriett Susan Wilkerson Jones.

Norma was a very loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings throughout her life. She was also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers where she served in many positions.

She loved to be with family and friends. She loved to paint and do ceramics, and she won several awards at the State Fair. She loved to knit and crochet afghans, baby blankets, hand towels and washcloths and shared her talents with many. She had a big heart, a warm and beautiful smile, an infectious laugh and was willing to help and serve others.

She married George Clayton Turner on March 1, 1946, in the Salt Lake Temple. He preceded her in death in 1993.

She later married Neil L. Sheriff on Feb. 5, 1999. He preceded her in death in 2010. From that marriage she gained more children, grandchildren and great-grand children, who she adored and loved. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ted and Max Jones.

She is survived by her daughter, Suzann (Mark) Snyder and son, Clayton Dudley Turner; four grandsons Christopher, James, Matthew (Shellie) and Sam Snyder; two great-grandchildren Landon and Mylie Snyder; brother Woodford (Vivian) Jones and sisters Ruby Marie (Vic) Hansen, Harriett Ann (Scott) Paris, and sister-in-law LaVerne Jones.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Murray 8th Ward, 166 East 4600 South, Murray, Utah. Interment followed at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah.
