Thomas James Doerr, 69, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Powell Valley Healthcare of a lengthy illness following a heart attack.
A 1961 graduate of Lovell High School, Doerr attended Northwest Community College, the University of Wyoming and Montana State University before taking a parks job at Big Horn Lake. That led to a career with the National Park Service, which he joined in 1965. During his time in the service, he served as a ranger at Grand Canyon National Park. He later joined the Fred Harvey Company, which operated a resort in Grand Canyon National Park.
Doerr retired in 1995 and relocated to Powell to care for his parents.
He was preceded in death by father John E. Doerr and mother Pauline K. Doerr. Survivors include his daughter, Jessica A.D. Pointer (Jack Pointer) of Winooski, Vt.; his younger brother, David Doerr (Barbara Doerr) of Pocatello, Idaho; and his younger sister, Millie Town (Barrie Town) of Monument, Colo.
Funeral services are set for 1 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell.
Cremains will be interred at Lovell Cemetery.
