Competition heats up at Cowley Pioneer Day Rodeo

Competitors from Wyoming, neighboring states and even one from as far away as Wisconsin showed up to compete in about a dozen different events from barrel racing to bull riding and everything between at the Cowley Riding Club’s Pioneer Day Rodeo held in conjunction with Pioneer Day on Saturday, July 21, at the rodeo grounds in Cowley.

The father and son roping team of Logan and Todd Nunn participated in the team-roping event at the Pioneer Day Rodeo held on July 21 in Cowley.

As always, the event drew an enthusiastic crowd of friends, family and rodeo fans enduring an afternoon in the blazing hot sun to see some rodeo action.

Youth Barrels 1st – Bailey Mulholland, Cowley, 2nd – Logan Nunn, Lovell, 3rd – Aspen Aquirre, Powell.

Steer Riding 1st – Shawn Perkins, Roberts, Mont., 2nd – Tyler Steed, Cowley.

Ladies Breakaway 1st – Callie Nelson, Greybull.

Youth Breakaway 1st – Tyler Steed, Cowley.

Bulls 1st – Brock Watson, Cody.

Saddle Bronc 1st – Grant Powers, Cody.

Team Roping 1st – Casey Good / Kenny Stanbaugh, 2nd – Casey Good / Casey Nelson, 3rd – Gary Kurz / Kevin Merrill, 4th – Braden Grant / Doug Harrison.

There were no wild horse racing teams.
