Gene Sanchez, 69, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, lovingly known as “Gino the Machino” died early morning August 18, 2012, with family by his side. His spirit and soul have transported into the hands of God in heaven.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Jane; sons, Ernie and wife Vicki, Damian and wife Lori, and Marc G. Sanchez; grandsons, Cameron and Damien Marcos; brothers, Frank and wife Rosa and Manuel and wife Carol along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Gino was preceded in death by his parents, Amador and Leonedez Sanchez; and his sisters, Andrea and Tola.
Gino loved life and lived it to its fullest everyday. His passions were golf, tennis, swimming, and nature. Gino had many career paths throughout his life but they always revolved around sales. You could say he had the “gift of gab.” The greatest love of his life was his family, especially his grandsons.
Those who golfed with him knew the joy and frustration of his scorekeeping and lost ball retrieval. Gino loved to be the center of attention. He was always willing to be the target of a friendly joke and provide laughs to those around him.
To know him was to love him. He will be deeply missed and mourned by all who had the honor of meeting him. Rosary was held Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at French-Wyoming Chapel. Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd., Albuquerque, NM. Your great-great-nephew J.D. fell in love with you. We are so glad you were here for your 50th year class reunion. All of your classmates, teachers, family, and friends were thankful you got to come home one last time to visit us. Thank you for bringing your fun loving spirit home one last time.
