Sally A. (Hunter) Holzer, 86, died at North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012. Sally was the youngest of seven children born to William Harry and Phoebe (Yon) Hunter of Altoona, Pa. She married Frederick G. Holzer on Aug. 13, 1949. They later divorced in 1984.
She spent most of her life in Altoona, where she worked in the garment industry, beginning her employment at the Puritan Knitting Mills in the 40s, later working for “The Sweet Shop,” a local soda and candy store, and then in retail clothing sales at Gables Dept. Store and Meyer Johansson’s. She moved to Cowley in May of 1984 to join her son and his family. She then worked in the dietary department at North Big Horn Hospital and the New Horizons Care Center until her retirement. Sally moved into the Care Center in March of 2012.
Sally is survived by her son Arthur and his wife Patti of Cowley; grandchildren David and his wife Leslie and their children Haylie and Zander of Price, Utah, and Dawn Kromrey and her husband Cody J. and their daughter Alexa of Powell; sister-in-law Lillian Hunter of California and many nieces and nephews across the country. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Arthur, Ralph, Harry and David; sisters Ethel and Ruth; and two children who died at birth, Ruthann and David H.
The family wishes to thank Pastor Paula Morris of the Lovell United Methodist Church, Rev. Chris Brandt of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the many staff and physicians of the Lovell Care Center and hospital and her many local friends for the care given to Sally over the years. She will be remembered by many friends both in Altoona and the Lovell area.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Haskell Funeral Home of Lovell. Services with interment of cremains in the Cowley Cemetery will be held at a later date.
