The spirit of Christmas was alive and well in north Big Horn County last week with the distribution of the annual LovellVolunteer Fire Dept.’s Christmas baskets and the North Big Horn Hospital Share A Stocking program items. Above, Santa’s helper Janet Koritnik poses with packages she wrapped last Wednesday in the boardroom at North Big Horn Hospital. The Share A Stocking program provided presents for 205 children from 78 local families throughout the hospital district. Normally, a child receives one toy and one item of clothing, but if the need is greater for clothing, two items of clothing – shoes and a coat, for instance – will be provided instead of a toy, Koritnik said. Below, volunteers Joe White and Jeff Angell were among the firemen and community members working Thursday morning to put together Christmas baskets for area families at the Lovell Fire Hall. Firemen distributed 174 baskets this year, Fire Capt. Bob Mangus said, noting that about $10,000 worth of food was provided thanks to food drives and donations for last-minute fresh food purchased by the firemen.
