Ten local students selected for Wyo. All-State Music

North Big Horn County will be well represented at the annual all-state music gathering and performance January 20-21 in Gillette.

Ten students from Lovell and Rocky Mountain high schools were chosen for the select choir and band after auditioning during the fall.

Lovell junior Justin Mickelson performs during the Lovell Instrumentalists Holiday Concert Thursday. Mickelson was selected for the All-State Band for the second time recently.

Six members of the Lovell High School choir program were chosen for the Wyoming All-State Choir: senior Randy Carter, tenor I; freshman Miranda May, soprano II; senior Jacob Mayes, tenor I; senior Lauryn Mickelson, soprano II; freshman Mykelle Nichols, alto II; and sophomore Mariah Raile, alto II.

This is Carter’s fourth selection to the all-state choir, Mayes’ third and Mickelson’s second.

Lovell sophomore Justin Mickelson was chosen for the Wyoming All-State Band on trombone. He was also selected as a freshman.

Two members of the Rocky Mountain Choir were selected for the all-state choir: junior Samuel Brackett, tenor II, and junior Jacob Loyning, bass I.

Junior Sam Woodis was selected for the all-state band for the second time, playing alto saxophone.
