The Lovell Chronicle

February 3, 1938

Architect’s drawing shown of the new Student Union Building, which will become the social and recreational headquarters on the University of Wyoming campus. Students, faculty and alumni will share its much-needed and long-awaited facilities. A PWA grant, accumulated ASUW funds, income from the building, and student and faculty assessments will finance the $240,000 building on a self-liquidating basis without expense to the taxpayers of Wyoming.

Photo: One of Avery Aviation’s helicopters, equipped with skis, takes off from Wyo 14 near the Big Horn River bridge in its search for Merwin Spragg, somewhere in the mountains in the background. Spragg was found safe about an hour later. He was driving a caterpillar tractor to the radar site on Medicine Mountain.

Photo: It’s taken Lovell Police Chief Jerry Hayes more than two years to realize his dream of this new cruiser, a 1988 Ford LTD Crown Victoria. The department bought it for dealer’s cost ($13,000) from Safford-Caten Ford in Cody.
