Victor Jacob Bush

Aug. 13, 1924 – Feb. 20, 2013

Victor Jacob Bush died Feb. 20, 2013, at the Powell Valley Care Center in Powell. He was 88.

Vic was born to Fred and Eva Bush on Aug. 13, 1924, in Kane. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in Lovell, graduating from Lovell High School in 1942. He married Geri Robinson on June 10, 1949. They were blessed with five children: Fred, Debbie, Bob, Beverly Jo and Julie.

He remained on the farm east of Lovell where he and his youngest brother, Harvey, continued to carry on the farming family business until 1970. In 1971, he moved to Minneapolis to attend Dunwoody Industrial Institute’s School of Baking, and in 1972, at the age of 48, he graduated at the top of his class as a Certified Master Baker.

Vic’s baking career began at the Home Bakery in Laramie, and in 1973 he was contacted by the Albertson’s grocery chain to join their bakery team in Longmont, Colo. He was quickly promoted to bakery manager and successfully managed various Albertson’s bakeries throughout Colorado and Utah. He truly enjoyed baking and took great pride in his craft and always strived to have the highest producing bakery of all of the Albertson’s stores in the district. He retired from Albertson’s in 1986.

In 1996, Vic moved back to the Big Horn Basin and made his home in Powell. He enjoyed being near and spending time with family, visiting with his special neighbors and walking his dog. He was an avid reader, often reading several books in a week’s time. He had a thirst for knowledge and subscribed to three newspapers so that he could stay informed and keep abreast of local and national current events. Vic was a true sports enthusiast and a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox, Colorado Rockies, Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings and the Duke University Blue Devils basketball team.

Vic was preceded in death by his parents, eight siblings, his two sons, Fred and Bob, and wife Geri. He is survived by his three daughters, Debbie, Beverly Jo and Julie, 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
