Feb. 8, 1926 – April 23, 2013
Leo S. “Jack” Dunn Jr. was born Feb. 8, 1926, in Findlay, Ohio, to Leo and Ada Dunn. Jack grew up in the family home in Findlay and graduated from Findlay High School at the age of 17 with the class of 1943. Jack loved to work with metal, engines and anything that was mechanical. His passion for these things led him to obtain a machinist license, a boilers license, become a motors machinist mate second class in the United States Navy, and to eventually be gainfully employed with Great Western Sugar and to retire with them after 33 years as a master mechanic. Jack also loved to hunt, fish, camp and, above all, spend time with family and friends.
On Jan. 26, 1964, he married the love of his life, Bonnie J. Anderson. Throughout their married life they transferred several times at the request of Great Western Sugar. This advanced Jack’s career and improved the life of his wife and five children. They lived in Fort Lupton, Colo., Gering, Neb., Longmont, Colo. and eventually Lovell, which he made his home after retiring in February of 1988. His greatest joys were being a husband, father and grandfather.
Jack died at his home in Lovell on April 23, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie, both parents Leo and Ada Dunn, one brother, Fred, and one sister, Mary Jo Kraus.
He is survived by one sister, Virginia Steen, five children, Jeff (Gail) Dunn, Lloyd Dunn, Colleen Thompson Kist, Mitch (Kinnetha) Dunn and Debra (Jim) Anderson, along with numerous nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at the Lovell Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.haskellfuneralhome.com.
