Organizers hope to top 100 at triathlon

The Big Horn Canyon Triathlon will be held on July 6 in conjunction with the “Day at the Lake” celebration at Horseshoe Bend. Organizer Ben Zeller says he hopes to exceed his goal of 100 participants in this year’s event, which includes an 800-yard swim, a 12-mile bike ride, followed by a three-mile run. As in previous years, the youth division course will be half the adult course distance.

“This is a good course for all ability levels,” said Zeller. “It’s fairly short, but most find it very challenging.”

Participants and their families are invited to take advantage of the free boat rides offered by the Friends of the Lake organization.

Information about the event, including a suggested training regime, can be found online at http://www.bhlaketriathlon.webs.com/.
