Joseph A. Candelaria

June 19, 1967 – June 12, 2013

Joseph-CandelariaJoseph A. Candelaria died on June 12, 2013 at the home of his parents in Lovell. He was born on June 19, 1967, in Greeley, Colo., to the late David Candelaria and Ruth Ortiz Montanez.

Joseph grew up in Greeley and Los Indios, Texas. In the summer of 1982 he moved to Lovell with his family. He graduated from Lovell High School in 1985. After high school he attended Northwest College in Powell where he received an associate in art degree. He also attended the University of Wyoming where he received his bachelor of science and arts degree. Joseph shared his many talents with his family and was very proud of his accomplishments, which included many years of drawing.

Joseph is survived by his parents Philip and Ruth Montanez of Lovell, and his siblings Juan O. Candelaria of Lovell, Jesse A. Candelaria of Cheyenne, Christina (Ray) Luna of Lovell, Zita (Guadalupe) DeLeon of Fresno, Calif., Lydia Montanez of Lovell, Peter J. Montanez of Lovell and Angel (Stephanie) Montanez of Lovell. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces and many more relatives.

Joseph was preceded in death by his dad, David Candelaria, and his grandparents, Concepcion and Severiana Ortiz and also Jose and Margarita Candelaria.

A Rosary service was held at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lovell on Friday June 14, and funeral services were also held at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lovell on Saturday, June 15.
