Myrtle “Ruth” Davies, of Lovell, died on June 16, 2013, at New Horizons Care Center at the age of 91. She was our beloved wife, devoted mother, loving grandmother, delightful aunt and lifelong friend. Ruth was born to Clarence Albert Sapp and Hazel Green Sapp in Deer Trail, Colo., on Feb. 18, 1922.

Ruth grew up in Colorado and Missouri. Times were hard with the Depression, dust bowl, unemployment and great changes to their way of life – horses to automobiles, tractors, electricity, indoor plumbing and gas-powered washing machines.

Ruth married Neil Davies Dec. 20, 1940, in Longmont, a marriage of 72 years. They lived in Longmont, Lovell, Bayard, Neb., and Loveland, Colo., while working for Great Western Sugar Company before retiring to Lovell, where they built their own log home, which has been loved by family and friends.

Ruth and Neil are parents to four children: Raymond Davies, Glynn Davies (deceased), Janice Fink and Myrl Davies. Ruth was an amazing homemaker, mother and grandmother. Her gift to her children and grandchildren was her example of unconditional love for all.

Ruth loved ice cream, rolling down hills with her grandchildren, hiking, mountain climbing, camping, flowers and just being with her greatest love, Neil. She enjoyed crafts and sewing. She created many memorable heirloom quilts, which her family and friends cherish.

With 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, Ruth was always happiest when all the family could be together, and she loved each one unconditionally.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her five brothers, a son Glynn Davies and a grandson Joel Davies, a great-granddaughter Lori Shaklee.

She is survived by her children Raymond Davies (Shara), daughter-in-law Janet Davies, Janice Fink (Richard) and Myrl Davies (Peggy).

Grandchildren: Barbara Kramer (Shane), Lyn Shaklee (Don), Robin Serafini, Bob Lewis (Cary), Jed Davies (Meghan), Jill Davies-Dreith (Tory), Fred Fink, Kari Bousman (Cotton), Jamalee Messervy (Jason) and Nick Davies (Wendy).

Great-grandchildren: Brandon Kramer, Corey Kramer, Desiree Shaklee, Kelly Lineweber, Sean Serafini, Joe Lewis, Michelle Lewis, Kylie Davies, Garrett Davies, Micah Dreith, Netaye Dreith, Alexis Fink, Peyson Fink, Jaylee Bousman, Miranda Bousman, Virginia Bousman, Natalie Messervy, Seth Messervy, Braydon Davies and Hadlee Davies.

Great-great-grandchildren: Jeanine Kramer, Colby Kramer, Devon Kramer, Reid Lewis and Raegan Lineweber.
