Marjory Foote Grabbert

August 8, 1919 – July 19, 2013

Longtime Emblem resident Marjory Foote Grabbert, 93, died early Friday morning, July 19, 2013, at the Spirit Mountain Hospice House in Cody after suffering a severe stroke a week before.

Marjory was born Aug. 8, 1919, at Manderson to William Arthur and Eliza Lavina (Leithead) Foote. She was raised in Lovell and graduated from Lovell High School. She attended business school in Salt Lake City.

Marjory married Harry (Smokey) Grabbert in Lovell on Jan. 21, 1945.

Marjory worked hard all of her life and was not afraid to take on any project that was handed to her. She was a very gracious woman who had a wonderful smile. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and enjoyed being with her friends. She enjoyed attending the community concerts in Cody. She worked in the Big Horn County Clerk’s office before her marriage and was elected to one term as Big Horn County Clerk, serving from 1943 through 1946.

Marjory was a member of the Burlington LDS Church and served faithfully in the Relief Society and was a member of the Emblem Community Club.

Marjory was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Jay; her son, Joel in 1985; and her husband, Harry, in 1986.

Marjory is survived by her daughter, Kay (David) Neves of Emblem, and their four children: Michael (Amanda) Neves, Kristin (Parry) Beasley, Megan Hanson, and Hali Neves; her son, Dave (Ellen) Grabbert of Cody and their son, Grady Grabbert; seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Anneta Ryan of Mesa, Ariz.; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at the Burlington Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Burlington with Bishop Mike Aagard conducting. A viewing will be held one hour before the service in the Relief Society Room (9-10 a.m.). Burial will follow at the Emblem Cemetery.

A luncheon for family and friends will follow the grave dedication at the Burlington LDS Church.
