Melba G. Bridges

She was born on Jan. 6, 1916, in Riverton, Utah, to Joseph Goodliffe and Carrie Marie Bills Green. She married Octave Lynn Bridges on Oct. 19, 1938, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

She worked part-time at Peterson’s Market until her husband’s death, when she began working full-time. She made many friends by working at the store for those years.

Upon her retirement, she served at the Jordan River LDS Temple for 18 years. She had a love for the community and people of Riverton, where she was born and lived until recent years. The community named her as honored citizen in 1986. Melba loved music and hummed a tune as she walked quickly wherever she went. She was preceded in death by her husband Octave Lynn; daughter Lynette Brinkerhoff; brothers Afton, Charles, Weston, Glen, Lowell, Eldred and Newell Green; and sisters Vilda Harrison, Myrl Morgan and Rayola Wardel.
