Doris Jean Judy died on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at South Big Horn County Critical Access Hospital at the age of 82.
Doris was born on Feb. 24, 1931, in Lovell to Arvil and Julia (Farmer) Beall. She attended schools in Frannie and Deaver and graduated from Deaver High School as valedictorian of her class. She furthered her education at Northwest College in Powell, earning her way by babysitting and housekeeping.
After completing her education at Northwest Community College, she started her teaching career in Grants Pass, Ore., and Powell Elementary School. She continued her career teaching fifth grade at Greybull Elementary School. She was a dedicated teacher and had a special soft spot in her heart for students who had a difficult time in their lives.
Doris met her husband, Kent, and they were later married during the Thanksgiving holiday in 1954.
Doris later went on to earn her Bachelor of Education degree and graduated from the University of Wyoming. She continued teaching at Greybull Elementary School and retired in 1986 after 27 years of service.
Doris was a member of the Eastern Star and was an honorary member of the FFA.
She is survived by her husband, Kent, of Greybull; her brother, Keith Beall (Ruby Lee) of Frannie and numerous nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Edna Graham.
A viewing was held on Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at the Atwood Family Chapel in Greybull. The funeral service was held at the Atwood Family Chapel in Greybull on Tuesday, Aug. 27, with Pastor Becky Anderson conducting the service. A luncheon for family and friends followed at the Elks BPOE Lodge #1431 in Greybull.
Burial and dedication of the grave was at the Deaver Cemetery. A reception followed at Carol and Mike McMillin’s home in Cowley.
