May 30, 1925 – Oct. 10, 2013
LaVerne was born May 30, 1925, in Lovell. She was the fifth child of Florence Harriet Burnham and Cyrus Snell Robertson.
She graduated from Lovell High School in 1938. Music was her passion while participating in various vocal groups and the percussion section in the marching band.
LaVerne married her high school sweetheart, Max W. Jones, in 1943. She enjoyed working as a bookkeeper for Robertson Motors and as a part-time employee at the draft offices.
She served in a variety of church callings including organist, chorister, teacher, ward presidencies and, of course, teaching genealogy classes – her greatest passion.
She hardly ever missed spending a summer at the cabin, her little piece of “heaven.” At the cabin in the Big Horn Mountains an evening was not complete without a car ride to spot and count the game going from and coming back to the cabin.
She is survived by her three sons Jerry (Sandy) Jones of Centerville, Utah, Ron (Cindy) Jones of Billings and Oren Jones of Lovell; 13 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
The family is grateful for her caregiver, Cathy, who graciously cared for their mother during her remaining years.
Friends were invited to visit with the family on Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at Haskell Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 15 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center. Interment was in the Lovell Cemetery.
