Big Horn Basin residents interested in trying the sport of snowkiting are invited to head to the Big Horns this weekend for an introduction to sport.
Those interested may meet at the Crystal Creek parking lot at the western top of the mountain on U.S. 14A Saturday and/or Sunday at 10 a.m. for a ride to the snowkiting site near Bald Mountain.
“This is an opportunity to try snowkiting, and if you’re a skier, snowboarder or snowmobiler in the Big Horn Basin, then bring your snow equipment to experience the power of the wind,” a flyer on the opportunity states.
“There will be experienced snowkiters there to help you experience the kite and show you the basics,” the flyer continues.
For updates and an RSVP, send email to firstname.lastname@example.org requesting updates for locals.
The snowkiting summit began Monday with snowkiting and meetings scheduled throughout the week about topics like safety standards, attracting outdoor enthusiasts, potential growth of the sport, the 2014 schedule, kite soaring and more.
Clinics are scheduled Thursday at 1 p.m. for advanced snowkiting on terrain, Friday at 1 p.m. for beginner to intermediate snowkiter skill building and Saturday at 1 p.m. for local residents wanting to learn to snowkite.
Anyone interested in the sport is also invited to observe and get tips from the pros all day Sunday, as well.
