Barbara Ann Dickson Moncur

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, Barbara Ann Dickson Moncur, 74, died Jan. 16, 2014, in Lovell at the New Horizons Care Center.

Barbara was born in Lovell on Dec. 3, 1939, the daughter of William Earl Dickson and Margaret Bingham Dickson. She met the love of her life, Dale Cutler Moncur, in Lovell and they were married at the LDS Temple in Cardston, Alberta, Canada on June 7, 1958. Barbara and Dale were married 44 years before he died on June 21, 2002.

They moved to Colstrip, Mont. in 1970, where Dale worked as a heavy equipment operator for Western Energy and Barbara worked as an administrative assistant for the Colstrip Public Schools.  They were early residents of this booming small town and were proud to raise their four children there.

Barbara was a devoted and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many different callings, especially in the women’s Relief Society.  Barbara was loved by all who knew her. She was known for her outgoing personality, kind heart and beautiful smile.

In 2008, Barbara returned to Lovell and was blessed to live close to many of her siblings and next door to her youngest sister, Elaine Harvey. She loved to open her home to visitors and was the recipient of countless hours of kind service from her family, fellow church members and neighbors.

Barbara is survived by her children Dennis (Denise) of Odessa, Fla., Eileen of Oakland, Calif., Lynnette (Scott Strobel) of Hamden, Conn., Patty (Michael Johnson) of Preston Idaho and her siblings Hazel Dickson of Billings, Marilyn Karlinsey (Bill) of Lovell and Mesa, Ariz., Bill Dickson (Margaret) of Logan, Utah, Gloria Dickson of Thermopolis, Brian Dickson (Linnea) of Lovell, Elaine Harvey (Allen) of Lovell, and Val Dickson (Andy) of Laramie. Barbara is also survived by 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren (two more are expected this year) and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A viewing was held Wednesday, Jan. 22, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Haskell Funeral Home. Services will be held Thursday, Jan. 23, at 2 p.m. at the LDS Stake Center in Lovell, with a viewing prior to the service at 1 p.m. in the Relief Society Room.

The family wishes to thank the many family and friends who have extended their support and kindness during this difficult time.  For those who wish, donations honoring Barbara may be made to the New Horizons Care Center via the North Big Horn Hospital Foundation, 1115 Lane 12, Lovell, WY 82431.
