Mary Evans, 88, lovingly known as “Maddy,” of Bothell, Wash., died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 18, 1925, in Los Angeles, the daughter of the late Francis Jack and Anne Louise (Pribbeno) Dempsey, but the family resided in Lovell. She married Charles A. Evans Jr. Aug. 13, 1946, and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2006. Mary was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Brendan Church in Bothell.
Earlier in her life, she taught CCD and tap dancing to children at Holy Family Parish in Seattle and was also a Campfire leader. She enjoyed tap and jazz dancing with the “Senior Struts,” playing piano, singing and karaoke. Mary was a wonderful cook, a loving wife and mother and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by four daughters, Taya Roberts and her husband, John, Mary Ann Cross and her husband, Ken, Patricia Evans and Theresa Evans Chambers; three sons, Charles A. Evans III, Frank Evans and his wife, Cindy, and Edward Evans and his wife, Tracy; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Maddy was predeceased by her husband, Charles, a sister, Patricia Glover, and three brothers, Robert, Gene and Sonny Dempsey.
A celebration of Maddy’s life and a Rosary were held at St. Brendan Catholic Church on Dec. 21. Inurnment will be at a later date at Tahoma National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to: www.sightconnection.org.
