A “Meet the Candidates” event with those seeking numerous elected positions in the August primary is set for Wednesday, July 9, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Byron Recreation Center auditorium (the former Byron school).
The free program is co-sponsored by the Byron Days Committee, Lovell Area Chamber of Commerce and Big Horn County Republicans. All candidates for city, county and state seats have been invited, said the committee. The forum will be preceded by a free dinner from 5:30-7 p.m. at the LDS Church in Byron. Dress is casual.
The candidates night program is part of the annual Byron Days celebration, which will begin Monday, July 7, with a showing of “The LEGO Movie” in the Byron Rec auditorium. The cost is $3 per person with a charge of $15 for up to six persons.
Besides the movie and candidates forum, a Byron Days variety show is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, in the auditorium. Tickets will be sold at the door or can be obtained prior to the program by phoning Victoria Dickson, the Byron rec director, at 254-9743 Tuesdays 8-9 a.m., Thursdays 7-8 p.m. and Fridays 1:30-2:30 p.m.
This year’s family oriented community celebration, which annually attracts hundreds of visitors, will include several attractions for teenagers including a “Color the Night” chalk dance with DJ music on Friday, July 11, at the town park baseball fields from 6 p.m. to midnight. On the same day from 6 a.m.-noon there will be a “Color Your Path” sidewalk chalk art contest. Phone 254-9743 to sign up. A fun run is set for Saturday, July 12 at the park. Phone 548-2369 to register.
