Register to vote by Oct. 20 or wait until Election Day

Monday, Oct. 20, is the last day to register to vote ahead of the Nov. 4 election, according to Secretary of State Max Maxfield.

vote“Voter registration closes 14 days before the general election so that county clerks have time to prepare pollbooks for the 285 polling places throughout the state,” Maxfield said.

In order to register, a person must be a U.S. citizen, resident of Wyoming, and at least 18 years of age by Election Day. Persons convicted of a felony must have had their civil or voting rights restored. Maxfield urged those who are eligible to vote but who have not yet registered, to register by contacting their county clerk’s office.

Those who are not registered by the Oct. 20 deadline have one more chance to register, that being at their polling place on Election Day, Nov. 4.

Maxfield said, “We are fortunate to live in a state where registration is allowed on Election Day; everyone really should participate in government. I invite everyone to do so.”
