Longtime local athletics official Joe White of Lovell was honored in Casper last Tuesday, Nov. 18, with the Distinguished Service Award presented by the Wyoming Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association.
White was the Northwest District nominee for the award for non-members and was honored at the organization’s annual luncheon and business meeting held at the Ramada Plaza Riverside. The award is given annually to a recipient outside the field of athletic administration in recognition of service to local and state interscholastic athletics.
“It was very humbling and a great honor to be nominated to represent the Northwest District of the WIAAA,” White said. “What an exciting experience it was to receive this award in front of all those people. Thank you for the recognition and support from all of the athletic administrators.”
White has officiated football, track and cross country for more than 30 years and is beginning his 41st year as a basketball official.
The WIAAA banquet was held in conjunction with the statewide sports scheduling meeting held Nov. 18 at the Ramada Plaza.
