Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area will be hosting the second of five Artists in Residence for the 2015 season May 18-28.
Harold Meadors has been an artist most of his life. He will be working in both acrylic and photography during his residency at Bighorn Canyon.
This Friday, May 22, from 4-6 p.m. Meadors would like to invite artists and non-artist to join him at the Ewing/Snell Ranch. He will be working en plein air and sharing some of his acrylic techniques. When asked why he was interested in participating in the program, he said, “The Artist In Residence program is a way to give back to Americans and highlight our beautiful National Park System.”
Bighorn Canyon is also excited to be hosting a “Find Your Park Through Art” event on October 3-4, 2015, at the Ewing/Snell Ranch. Artists of all skill levels are invited to bring their gear to draw, paint or photograph outdoors. Artists will have an opportunity to work en plein air at two sites in the park — one in the late afternoon/evening and another in the morning. Artists are invited to bring their tent and camp on the lawn at the Ewing/Snell ranch.
For those wanting a little more structure, three resident artists will offer demonstrations on wood block printing (Amanda Palmer), oil painting (Stephanie Rose) and photography (Marilyn Feather).
