Oct. 11, 1934 – March 12, 2018
Gib Marchant died March 12, 2018, at his home in Eagle, Idaho.
Gilbert Arley Marchant was born in Lovell Oct. 11, 1934, to Arley Lindsay Marchant and Lacy Guinn Marchant. He grew up in Cowley, where he enjoyed playing sports, and he worked for most of the farmers around Cowley from the time he was a young boy.
As a young man he went to work road construction and while he was working on a job in Teton City, Idaho, he met and married his sweetheart Marjorie Clark on Nov. 7, 1953. They were married 63 years and raised four children: Mike (Marla) of Meridian, Idaho, Kae (Gary) Mann of Greys Lake, Idaho, Bob (Teressa) Marchant of Laramie and Melanie Neal of Eagle, Idaho.
The four children survive, along with four grandchildren, Tiffany, Candy, Justin, and Jeremy, five great-grandchildren, brother Tom of Billings, sister Peggy (Jim) Tucker and multiple nieces and nephews.
Gib was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marge and grandson Jarod Marchant.
Gib retired at age 58 in 1992 from Peter Kiewit & Sons, a large highway construction company, and he worked in Wyoming, Montana, Idaho and South Dakota. They lived in several places and made some long-lasting friendships.
In 1992 they sold their home in Lander and moved to Eagle, Idaho, to be closer to family.
They also had a winter home in Mesquite, Nev., where they both took up golfing and really enjoyed the game. They also had a home at Terrace Lakes Golf Course to get out of the summer heat in Eagle. They made good friends up there and enjoyed golfing and roaming the trails on their four-wheelers with a group of their friends.
Graveside services will be held Friday, March 16, at 12:30 p.m. at the Dry Creek Cemetery in Boise, Idaho.
