Lovell game warden addresses mountain lion sightings

With about six sightings of a mountain lion reported to the Lovell Police Department on the south side of town and on county land outside of the town limits recently, Lovell Game Warden Rick King said people should not be too scared, and know that measures are being taken to track and trap the cat if another sighting is reported.

LPD serving weed letters throughout summer

The Lovell Police Department is using a new technique to serve weed, nuisance and junk vehicle letters this year in an attempt to make the town safer and better looking. The LPD has assigned one officer to focus on serving letters, allowing the rest of the department to concentrate on other investigations and cases.

Byron teens rescued from Shoshone River

Valuation climbs this year; county coffers will take a hit in 2010 as Wyoming loses mineral money

The good news is that Big Horn County valuation is expected to top last year’s mark by $60 million, meaning more money in county coffers this year. The bad news is that county officials and residents should prepare for drastic budget cuts in 2010 due to slumping gas and oil prices and production.

Suicide watch group offers an alternative to jail

When thinking about suicide, people are often depressed and feel like there is no hope in life, that it would be easier to end their life than to face their problems tomorrow. Attempting or contemplating suicide is not pleasant, but a time of frustration and self-loathing. The last thing that someone who is considering suicide needs is to be thrown in a jail cell, left to deal with their problems in a small enclosed room, feeling like a criminal just for asking for some help.
