The graduation of 17 seniors from a tough 2005 squad spelled doom for a young Lovell Bulldogs football team a year ago as the ‘Dogs struggled to a 2-6 record, but one year later, Coach Troy Pittman is hoping that last year’s trial by fire will pay dividends for a team with some experience and strong talent returning.

The Lovell Lady Bulldogs and Rocky Mountain Lady Grizzlies had mixed success during the weekend’s North Big Horn Invitational held at Lovell High School and Lovell Middle School. Participating teams played two games against their opponents, for a total of 16 games each.

Nine local Wyoming National Guard soldiers were honored Friday for their recent service in Iraq. About 50 people gathered at the Armory in Lovell to watch as the soldiers and their families received medals, medallions, pins and flags during the National Guard’s “Defenders of Freedom” ceremony.
