Savages win city softball

The Lovell Recreation District Men’s League softball tournament culminated Saturday as the Savages team swept the tournament, winning three games with scores of 25-5, 12-7 and 13-3.
The Savages team is made up of Mike Allred, Matt McArthur, Rod Allred, Jason Zeller, Kendall Horrocks, Adrin Mayes, Trent Campbell, Robyn Savage, Doug Savage, Keesha Savage, Charlie Cordova, Marc McArthur, Isaac Mayes, Jay Brinkerhoff, Ben Zeller, Devon Parks, Debbie Allred, Mike McArthur, Gilbert Cordova and Sean Savage.
The second place team was Marathon, followed by The Box Office in third; GP fourth, Wyo-Ben fifth and NAPA sixth. 
Tournament
Wyo-Ben beat NAPA in the first game. In the second game, GP forfeited to Marathon. In the third game, Marathon defeated Box Office. Friday night, Savages defeated Wyo-Ben for their first loss. NAPA and GP were set to play, but NAPA forfeited due to a lack of players, eliminating them from the tournament. The next game, Box Office defeated Wyo-Ben, knocking them out of the tournament, leaving GP and the Box Office to face each other the next morning.
Saturday, Box Office defeated GP and eliminated them from play. The Savages prevailed over Marathon, securing themselves a spot in the finals. Marathon beat the Box Office 13-7, knocking them out of the tourney.
Marathon and Savages faced off in the final game and the undefeated Savages won 13-3 with the mercy rule in effect in the sixth inning.
The first place team recieved a single scoop of ice cream at Minchow’s food court and $120 donated by Pepsi toward equipment for the team. The second place team recieved a $5 dollar gift certificate to Minchow’s Food Court and a T-shirt. Third place received a single scoop of ice cream at Minchow’s.
