Marilyn Tippetts lost her nine-year battle with cancer on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008. She passed peacefully in her husband’s loving arms surrounded by her sons and family at her home in Lovell.
Marilyn was born in Lovell to Leo S. and Emma M. (Kaiser) Hoffman on March 16, 1942. She grew up on the farm, first in Burlington and then in Byron, where she started school. After the loss of her mother, who died when she was six years of age, her father moved the family to Lovell.
She completed her high school education in Lovell and upon graduation attended one semester at NWC in Powell. At Lovell High School Marilyn met Wilford James Tippetts, the love of her life.  The two were married on the 5th of May, 1961. Their lives were enriched with the birth of four sons: Bradford James, Blade Jason, Jason Cole and Josh W.
In their early years of marriage they were inseparable: riding, working cattle, driving a tractor or just irrigating. Marilyn was with Wilford at every opportunity. She was also a great homemaker and took a lot of pride in her home and large yard and garden. Every holiday was a special time at Marilyn’s home. She loved having the family for large dinners and always decorated elaborately for the occasion, especially at Christmas time. It gave her great joy to have her family around her at all times.
She loved having her grandchildren close by and in her later years would take Chase and Hunter out to the golf course and they would forget the world and its cares as they golfed the hours away together.
Marilyn and Wilford are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she has held many positions over the years. As a youth, she was a member of the “original” youth council. She has been a mutual dance leader, a mutual teacher, a Sunday school teacher and a counselor in the Young Women’s organization. Marilyn and Wilford were sealed together for time and eternity in the Billings Montana Temple on Jan. 30, 2001.
Marilyn’s greatest joy in life was her husband and family. Her children and grandchildren always came first. She is survived by her husband Wilford James, of 47 years and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild: Bradford James Tippetts (Colleen) and children Julie and Zachary James and great-grandson Kannon Wilford; Jason C. Tippetts (Vivia); and Josh W. Tippetts (Aryn) and children Chase Daniel and Hunter Josh.
Her other survivors include an older sister, Donna M. (Hoffman) Wagers and an older brother, Vernon F. Hoffman, as well as extended family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a baby sister and Blade Jason, an infant son.
Viewing/visitation was held on Sunday, Aug. 17, at Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell. Funeral services were held at the Lovell LDS Church on Monday, Aug. 18, at 10 a.m. Burial was in the Lovell Cemetery.
