Former Lovell Chronicle editor Karla Pomeroy began duties as the editor of the Basin Republican Rustler this week.
Pomeroy comes to Basin from Laramie where she has spent the past two years as a staff reporter with the Laramie Boomerang. Prior to working in Laramie, she was the news editor and then editor at the Lovell Chronicle for 16 years.
“I am extremely excited to welcome Karla back into our newspaper family,” Publisher David Peck said. “She was at my side for many years at the Chronicle, and I know the people of Big Horn County will enjoy working with her again. She is truly one of the finest community journalists in Wyoming.”
Pomeroy graduated from Hot Springs County High School in Thermopolis in 1986 and earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Wyoming in 1990.
“I am excited to be back in the Big Horn Basin. It’s like coming home. I am also excited to be working for a small weekly again. I look forward to getting to know Basin and the surrounding communities and becoming a part of the community,” Pomeroy said.
She and her husband, Alan, have purchased a home in Basin where they will reside with their two dogs.
Peck also said he would like to thank former Editor Lori Newman for her hard work and dedication to the newspaper and the community over the last four years. He said he wishes her the best as she pursues new opportunities. |
