On Friday and Saturday the Foster Gulch Golf Course of Lovell hosted the 2008 Class 3A West Conference Tournament.
Junior Evan Frost, senior Wes Schmidt and sophomore Mason Fowler qualified for the state tournament, which will be held in Douglas this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 26-27 at the Douglas Community Golf Course.
Frost placed seventh at the conference tournament and was two strokes away from placing in the top five with scores of 78 Friday and 85 Saturday for a two-day total of 163. Schmidt also qualified for the state tournament, placing 10th at the conference tourney with scores of 85-85--170.
Fowler placed seventh in the girls varsity division with scores of 128-120--248. Teammate Amanda Thackeray missed qualifying by one stroke with scores of 125-131—256.
Sophomore Jeff Lewis also golfed for Lovell at the conference tournament, and his scores were 94-93—187, good for 24th place. Sophomore Jared Minchow was also out on the green and scored 101-108--209. Senior Kevin Butterfield scored 108-106--214.
The Lovell boys placed sixth overall with 727 strokes, just one stroke behind fifth-place Worland and ahead of Pinedale and Lyman. Cody won the tournament with a score of 640, followed by Kemmerer at 659.
Tee times in Douglas are 9 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday. |
