Cowley native Donna Rae Rollins died Thursday, July 10, 2008.

Donna Rae Stevens was born into a loving family in Cowley on March 14, 1927. She was the 10th of 11 children born to John Robert Stevens and H. Geneva Moore. After graduating from Cowley High School, she received her teaching certificate from the University of Wyoming. At the LDS Institute there, she met a dashing former Marine, Wayne Leon Rollins, who became her beloved eternal companion on August 28, 1946, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they raised five daughters and two sons.

Donna supported Wayne through his schooling as he first became a teacher then a veterinarian. They lived in Wyoming, Colorado, Kabul, Afghanistan, and Utah. They loved to travel. Donna has visited six continents and been around the world. She loved her country and was proud to be an American.

Everywhere she lived, Donna made many friends and served in leadership positions in the LDS Church and her community. She was an exemplary visiting teacher, even during her last years at the Harrison Regent in Ogden. She enjoyed serving people and the Lord, whom she loved very much. Wherever she was in the world, she found the Church and attended faithfully with her family.

Donna was an avid BYU and Jazz fan. She loved to square dance, sing, organize a beautiful home, and especially spend time with her loved ones. She was a gracious hostess. Her home was a gathering place and everyone knew they were always welcome and could find a hot meal and a comfortable bed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, eight siblings and one granddaughter, Jenni.

Those left behind and missing her are: her children, Romona (Richard) Mann, Roy, Utah; Muriel (Dennis) Liggett, Salem, Ore.; Mary (Wayne) Hirsbrunner, Roy; Annette Renae (Thomas) Finster, Roy; Beverly (Jim) Kemp, Castle Rock, Colo.; Derek (Yuko) Rollins, Layton, Utah and Dustin Rollins, Roy; 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ira Stevens, and a sister VerJean Baker.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 19, at the Roy South Stake Center.

Interment was in the Roy City Cemetery.
