The Wyoming Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle rollover accident that claimed one life Thursday, Sept. 25, at 2:15 a.m., two miles east of Byron on Road 5, also known as the Sand Hills Road.

Jenny L. James, 25, of Powell, was totally ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Steven A. McGlaughlin, 23, of Lovell, remained in the vehicle following the rollover. Neither was wearing a seat belt during the accident.

Trooper Mark Schauland said an investigation is being done to determine who was driving the 1987 Buick LeSabre that lost control while traveling southbound on Road 5. The vehicle slid over a cattle guard and through a fence, rolling two times and coming to rest on the east side of the roadway. Schauland said speed and the gravel road contributed to the vehicle losing control.
