A spectacular display of lights and yard scenes carried the Gary and Connie Good family to first place in the 2008 Christmas Lighting Contest, sponsored by the Lovell Area Chamber of Commerce.
Four judges from the chamber’s board of directors examined the 10 nominees late last week and over the weekend and judged the Good display at 305 Great Western Ave. in Lovell to be at the top of the field.
Placing second was a perennial favorite, the classic display at the Norm and Phyrn Opp home at 1050 Nevada on top of the hill in Lovell.
Finishing a close third was the jazzy, musical display at the Joe and Janet Prosser home at 1142 Lane 11½ just east of McKinley Ave. in Lovell. The display is well worth seeing and listening to.
Honorable mention notice was given to the large display of lights at the Don and June Minchow home at 1201 Highway 310 west of Cowley, and strong marks were also given to the Marvin and Billie Bymers display at 212 Central Ave. in Deaver.
Also nominated were Aaron Harris at 126 W. Riverview in Byron, Eugene Padilla at 148 E. 10th in Lovell, Frieda Wheeler at 154 Washakie in Lovell, Pat Steed at 1090 Lane 12 in Lovell and Roger Wilkerson at 470 W. Main in Lovell.
