Ticket sales have been strong for the North Big Horn Hospital Foundation’s annual “An Evening With Friends” fund-raising dinner and show, which will be held at the Lovell Community Center this Saturday, April 25.
The “black tie/blue jeans” semi-formal event will begin at 6 p.m. with a silent auction featuring works by local artists. Appetizers will be served, and a cash bar will be available, catered by the Waterhole No. 1 of Cowley.
Dinner, with a choice of prime rib or chicken cordon bleu, will be served at 7:30, catered by ARAMARK Campus Services and Catering of Northwest College. Complimentary wine will be available at each table.
Foundation Director Janet Koritnik said she is pleased that some 130 tickets have been sold so far. She noted that all proceeds will go to build and equip new kitchens at the New Horizons Care Center, part of the cultural change under way at the care center to make the facility more “resident-centered,” Koritnik said.
“The focus is on what is easiest and best for the residents,” she said. “With the new kitchens, the staff will prepare a lot of meals there in the care center instead of the main kitchen.
“The smell and aroma of freshly-prepared meals will stimulate appetites and encourage the residents to eat. Or they could make cookies. The counters will be wheelchair-accessible.”
Koritnik said there will be some 25 auction items available for bidding during the evening including artwork, photographs, quilted items, jewelry and hooked-rug items.
Entertainment will be provided by the Lovell High School Swing Choir, followed by the Stage III performers of Casper, who will perform the comedy “Chinamen.”
Koritnik said the community center is a great place to hold the event.
