Maurice Strom Dalton, formerly of Cowley, died June 18 of heart failure in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Maurice was born in Cowley on August 6, 1918, the eldest child of Charles M. and Alice Mortensen Strom.
She had many fond memories of her early years in Cowley with her many cousins. She often spoke of herding cattle on foot with her beloved brother Rolf between the canal and foothills of the Pryor Mountains.
At the age of 14 she moved with her family to Sweden because of the Depression. There, she married and raised her son, Hakan. When her family returned to the United States in 1948, Maurice remained in Sweden until the death of her husband, John. In 1965 Maurice moved to Cowley with her son, to be near her family.
Hakan was the joy of Maurice’s life, but she found a lot of joy in her nieces and nephews and their children.
Preceding Maurice in death were husbands John Edwardson in Sweden and George Dalton of Cowley, brothers Rolf and Kennard Strom and sister Elisabeth Burke. Surviving her is her son Hakan Edwardson and his wife, Jeanie, of Fulton, Texas; sister Joann Nordenstam of Cowley and many nieces and nephews.
Inurnment of ashes will be at a later date in the Cowley Cemetery.
