Mazie L. (Cross) Dykes, 81, died Jan. 11, 2010, in the New Horizons Care Center in Lovell.
She was born Sept. 28, 1928, in Harrisburg, Neb., to John R. Cross and Orpha (Scoville) Cross. She spent her early years in Harrisburg, where she met and married her husband Delbert Dykes. Together, they raised their daughters. In 1964 they moved to Deaver. She then moved to Powell in 1980.
Mazie’s hobbies in her early life were skeet shooting, hunting, fishing and raising her chickens and cattle. Later in life, she had time for reading and fishing and enjoyed her time spent as a museum curator at the Homesteader Museum.
She was one of eight children, including four brothers and four sisters.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents, one brother, one sister and her nephew. Survivors include their two daughters, Rena Dykes and her husband Bill Corn and Rita Jansson and husband Tom; granddaughter Jordan Jansson; two very special family members, Klondy and Katrina Jansson; and many other dear friends.
