Lovell High School students and staff are working to “pack the gym in pink” for the Wind River-Lovell basketball games on Friday, Feb. 5, to raise awareness of and funds for the fight against breast cancer.

Cancer survivor Shelly Lohof, a library aide at LHS, is leading the effort as part of her goal of participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure walk on Aug. 27-29 in Denver with her daughter Cori Thompson of Sheridan, who participated in the walk last summer.

Pack it Pink t-shirts are being sold by coaches and members of the Lovell girls basketball team, as well as the LHS Student Council. T-shirts are $10 each, and $6 from each sale goes to the Race for the Cure.

T-shirts are currently available through the Student Council and can be obtained by calling any council member or Lohof at 548-2256 or -6492. Orders are also being taken by the Lady Bulldogs and their coaches and should be placed this week.

There will also be items for sale at the game including baked goods, pink pom-poms and beads, awareness bracelets and “funky hats,” Lohof said, adding that she needs to raise at least $2,500 in order to join Cori in the Race for the Cure walk. An account has been established at the Bank of Lovell.

Call Lohof for more information.
