Geneva L. Roberts, 89, of Lindon, Utah, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2007, as a result of congestive heart failure.

She was born in Lovell Oct. 16, 1918, the fifth of 12 children born to Ben and Jennie Leithead. She was raised on her parents’ ranch on the upper Nowood River about 10 miles north of Ten Sleep. She graduated from high school in Lovell and from the University of Wyoming with a degree in home economics.

Geneva met W. Lamont Roberts during her first teaching assignment in Mountain View, Wyo. They married in the LDS Logan Temple on July 26, 1944. Soon after, they made their home in Worland, where Lamont was an agent for Beneficial Life Insurance Co.  Due to investment and work opportunities, they later lived in Carlsbad, NM; Casper; Salt Lake City; Prescott, Ariz.; and finally Lindon, Utah.

Geneva’s primary focus throughout her life was the nurture and care of her eight children: Stan, Mark, Leitha, Beverly, Keith, Jenet, Robert, and Dee in addition to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

After Lamont was killed in an industrial accident on their 25th wedding anniversary in 1969, Geneva worked briefly as a schoolteacher. She then worked for several years as the first supervisor of housekeeping in the Provo Temple. In the church she held positions of leadership in all of the auxiliaries. She filled three stake missions and one full-time mission to the Louisiana Baton Rouge Mission. She was a member of the Curly Springs Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

She is survived by two sisters, eight children, 40 grandchildren, and 41 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at 2 p.m. in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, Utah, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Mt. View Memorial Estates Cemetery, Sandy, Utah.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinfamilymortuary.com.
