Prospective candidates for public office in Big Horn County are reminded that the filing period for the 2008 Primary Election begins today (Thursday) and runs through Friday, May 30.

Candidates for town council seats can file during regular office hours at their respective town halls, while candidates for the seat on the Big Horn County Commission held by Bill Duncan must file at the Big Horn County Clerk’s Office in the courthouse in Basin. There is a $25 filing fee for local candidates.

Those seeking the House District No. 26 seat in the Wyoming House of Representatives currently held by Elaine Harvey must file with the Secretary of State’s office in Cheyenne.

The local races will appear on the Aug. 19 Primary Election ballot, where they will be joined by candidates for Wyoming’s two U.S. Senate seats now held by John Barrasso and Mike Enzi and for Wyoming’s lone seat in the U.S. House, currently held by Barbara Cubin.
