[caption id="attachment_6776" align="alignright" width="332"]Bettie Langston Bettie Langston[/caption]Elizabeth Orale “Bettie” Tanner Langston died on Sept. 2, 2013, after a long illness. Bettie was born to Vincent and Florence Tanner on Aug. 24, 1935, in Byron. She is survived by three brothers, John, Noel and Charles, and three sisters, Ramona, Arden and Rhea. She was married to Tommy F. Langston.She graduated from Byron High School and was later married to David Robert Spalding. They had four children: Robbi (Eugene) Edwards of Byron, Gary (Terry) Spalding of Tucson, Ariz., Gerri (David) Dodd of Cowley and Rhonda (Robert) Hoffine of Klamath Falls, Ore.In 1985 she married Tom Langston and became mother to his four children: Tom Jr. (Shirley) Langston of Deaver, Kimberly Chaney of Katy, Texas, Jeff (Billie) Langston of Byron and Mary (Chris) Laudermilk of Deaver.Tom and Bettie adopted two children: James Langston of Deaver and Heather Mercade of Powell. They had 27 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.Bettie’s love and passion were her Arabian horses followed closely by her dogs. She enjoyed training her young horses, herding cows and riding the sand hills of Byron and the mountains of Wyoming. Her sharp wit and infectious laugher will be remembered in loving memory.Viewing/visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell and one hour prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Byron LDS Church. Cremation will follow services with burial of cremains in the Penrose Cemetery at a later date.
