George Patrick Hernandez

Feb. 22, 1954 – April 17, 2021

George Patrick Hernandez passed away Saturday April 17, 2021 in Denver, Colo., at the Swedish Medical Center after suffering a massive stroke with family by his side. 

George was born on Feb. 22, 1954 in Yakima, Wash., to San Juan and Polly Hernandez. He grew up in Worland, Wyo., with his 14 brothers and sisters. He served in the United States Army for six years and was honorably discharged on Aug. 7, 1978. 

George has called Greybull, Wyo., home for the last 20 years, residing with his wife DJ of 34 years. He enjoyed fishing and spending time. 

George is survived by wife DJ, daughters Dessiry (Troy) Bader of Gillette, Wyo., Carolee (Steven) Johns of Basin, Wyo., Shana (Dean) Pearce of Casper, Wyo., Heather (Alex) Campbell of Worland, Wyo., Misty (Alan) Aultman of Tacoma, Wash., son George (Harmony) Hernandez of Tacoma, Wash., step-daughter Krista (Scott) Shumake of Grand Haven, Mich., step-son Rusty (Heather) Freeman of Henniker, N.H., sisters Rosemary Moore, Sally Garcia of Worland, Wyo., Bella (Victor) Mendoza of Salt Lake City, Utah, Paula (Richard) Urioste of Yakima, Wash., brothers Jessie (Shelly) Hernandez of Worland, Wyo., Frankie Hernandez, Johnny (Suzzanna) Hernandez of Pinedale, Wyo., Raymond Hernandez of California, 23 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Mary, Monica, Virginia, Elizabeth, and brothers Jimmy and Lupe. 

There will be a Celebration of Life for George on May 29, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the Washakie County Fairgrounds for anyone who would like to come and share a drink and a story. Condolences may also be expressed by donating to any veterans service of your choice.
