Gloria Jean Phister

Gloria Jean Phister

Oct. 16, 1942 – March 8, 2021

Gloria Jean (Webster) Phister passed away peacefully in her home on March 8, 2021, after a valiant battle with breast cancer.

She was born in Cedar City, Utah, on Oct. 16, 1942, to Elvin Francis and Venetta (Hunt) Webster. She married her sweetheart, Everett Milton Phister, of Salt Lake City, on June 19, 1965. They were sealed for time and all eternity on June 10, 1966, in the Logan Utah Temple. Together, they had 11 children and more than 130 grandchildren and great-grandchildren with several on the way.

Gloria was very active in her community, giving of her time and service to others. She always had a way of finding those in need and never hesitated to help others. She loved to sew, quilt and bake and share those talents with all who were in need.

She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many leadership positions, including Relief Society, Young Womens and scouting, in which she completed the woodbadge course and earned her Silver Beaver award. She served with her husband in the Billings, Montana Temple, and later they served full-time in the Albuquerque, New Mexico Mission.

She was very musically talented and enjoyed singing and playing bass in several country and rock bands. She always said she was a “little bit country and a little bit rock-n-roll.” She had a voice like an angel, and family and friends loved listening to her sing and share her talents.

Being a mother was her greatest reward. She was also a devoted wife and grandmother. She loved her family unconditionally, and she always made time to play games and enjoyed having them close around her (and the grandkids loved that about her). We love you so much, Mom, and we will miss you. Until we meet again.

She is survived by her husband, Everett Milton Phister; children Danny (Gaylene) Phister, Alan (Deanna) Phister, Lori (Kevin) Park, Sharon (Terry) Poulton, Diane (Eric) Allen, Rory (Rebecca) Phister, Scott (Grace) Phister, Donna (Tony) Hoyt, Paula (Tod) Pettus, Lynette (Doug) Petersen and Gary (Heather) Phister; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; brother Kenny Webster; and sisters Patsy Ruesch and Debra (Richard) Morrill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elvin Francis and Venetta (Hunt) Webster; brother Deward Webster; brother-in-law Andy Reusch; and grandchildren Lucas, Cassandra and Tate Pettus.

The family would like to thank Applegate Hospice (especially Katie), Advantage Home Medical, her physicians and Serenity Funeral Home for their excellent care.
